The Red Hot Jazz Archive -- A History of Jazz Before 1930. A Terrific Site, Where You Can Listen to, and Learn About the Origins of Jazz!

Music Education Center -- Free Lessons, Free Sheet Music, and Plenty of Other Resources Too.

Danman's Music Library -- A Commercial Site With Some Nice Free Resources. Click on the "Free" Button to Check Them Out.

Tonos -- An online musician's network founded by Oscar/Grammy winning lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, Grammy winning producer/composer David Foster and Grammy winning singer-songwriter/producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

Music Station -- We are a music school in West London. We specialise in Keyboard Organ and Piano. The music used by our pupils is put together on a shareware music editor called 'Noteworthy Composer' about 700kb. Once you have downloaded the editor, you can return to this site. And choose from a selection of free sheet music to play and print.

The College Music Society -- A consortium of college, conservatory, university and independent musicians and scholars interested in all disciplines of music. The International Association of Music Information Centres -- World-wide network of organisations promoting new music. Music Information Centres are open to the public and have extensive resources to offer. In addition to large libraries of sheet music and sound archives, some centres maintain up-to-date collections of biographical and research material, many issue publications and recordings, and all serve as a focus of musical activity.

American Musicological Society -- Founded in 1934 as a non-profit organization to advance research in the various fields of music as a branch of learning and scholarship. At present, 3,300 individual members and 1,200 institutional subscribers from forty nations participate in the Society.

Happy Notes Games -- Teach Music Theory. Lots of Games Here, and While They Aren't Free, There's Usually Some Fun Free Stuff on The Site Too.

Eyeneer Music Archives -- Both an educational archival site that seeks to make comprehensive information about music publicly available as well as an entertainment center which presents new and unique music.

musiMail -- Join the e-music revolution! Discover the revolutionary e-zine which has made hundreds look at finding MIDI, MP3, RealAudio and WAV files in a completely new way by delivering these files for free, daily.

MusicRobot -- Let Midi Explorer find your files. Midi search engine.

WaHo Midi Page -- Great collection of midi files for you to download Free! (Editor's note: There were two pop-ups on this site when I visited, and I hate pop-ups, but there really are a lot of midi files here.)

Music with Source Code -- Zel is a different kind of music software for Midi composers and arrangers--its a computer language. You don't need to play an instrument and you don't need a Midi keyboard or Midi sequencer to make music. Zel can even compose for you. You can download a Zel translator for free.

The Internet Piano Page -- This Webpage contains lots of classical Piano files in the common General MIDI format. Most of the pieces have been played by professional concert pianists so that best quality is guaranteed. The music includes all brilliant and familiar tunes and works beginning with Bach and ending with Rachmaninoff.

Virtual Piano -- Play the piano using your mouse or your computer's keyboard. As you play the piano, you'll see the wave forms as well as hear them. The piano can also play a song for you, while you watch.

Guitar Lessons -- A Nice Collection of Free Guitar Lessons Which You Can Download Piecemeal, or All at Once, in a Fairly Small File.(154K in the zip file for Windows, smaller for Linux, and a little larger in sit.hqx)

Learn to Play Guitar -- An ebook for aspiring guitarists. It takes a new player on a tour of the instrument and uses tablature notation to introduce the strings, tuning, exercises, and basic open chords. It continues with strumming, chord progressions, additional chords, scales, and notes on improvisation. And it's completely free!

Acoustic Guitar Central -- Still Another Commercial Site With Plenty of Freebies.

Ken's Guitar Theory Lessons -- Not a Large Site, But Apparantly Growing, and There's Some Good Information on Chord and Scale Theory Here.

Kyle's Virtual Guitar Lessons -- This site is designed to be a resource for beginning and frustrated guitar players who are looking to improve their guitar playing skills.

Guitar Section: About.com -- I'll be honest with you, I don't like About.com sites. They're so Big that it seems to take forever to find anything, but, their guitar pages are excellent, and Dan Cross has put together some really awesome guitar lessons here. True Fire -- A Great Resource for Guitarists, and Musicians in General. Registration Required.

Guitar Lesson World -- This site is a resource that gives the information that aspiring guitarists need to become better. It provides lessons on theory with everything from scales and modes to chord construction. These lessons give information that many private lessons don't touch on. There are also many resources that are not directly related to guitar lessons. These resources show minor repairs, tips, blues licks, and much more. This site will give you much needed knowledge about the guitar.

Mike Strickland dot Net -- Here's a Cool and Eclectic Site. Free Lessons for the Guitar, Psaltery, Sitar, Autoharp, and Arpa Magica (whatever that is?), a Free Reggae Page, and Other Interesting Things.

Guitar Noise -- The Online Guitar College. GuitarNoise.com teaches anyone who is willing to learn how to play the guitar. As the best source of free guitar information we have lessons for every level, an authoratative guide to finding tablature, guitar discussions and weekly columns. Everything is free and there is no need to register for anything.
