Johannes Wallroth -- Mr Wallroth is a a gifted programmer and you'll find many wonderful freeware programs on his site, but that's not all! He has some excellent tutorials and resources for anyone who want's to learn programming in C++ or Java, and the "artwork" section of his site contains high quality digital art and photographs. A great place to visit, and don't be surprized if you feel compelled to stay a while and explore. If, like me, you feel inspired to leave a thank you note in his guestbook, be sure and tell him where you found his site.
JPG Cleaner -- A simple command line utility for cleaning anything that is not picture data out of jpg files. Commonly used programs such as adobe photshop write additional info into jpg file that is not needed for correctly displaying the picture.
Icon Snatcher -- Before you search the internet for cool icons, look a little closer to home. Chances are you'll find some neat images hiding inside the files on your very own hard drive. It is a free 32-bit utility that can extract icon files from any .Exe dll or any other type of file that might contain embedded icons. Each icon may be saved in either bmp, ico or gif format, or copied to the clipboard for pasting into your favorite graphics editor. You can also pick the background color for maintaining the transparency of bitmaps and gifs. (Click on downloads at this site.)
A Smaller GIF -- reduce the size of your animated gif's without affecting their appearance! It can also view animated gif's in a special viewbar. Download a copy, and follow the online tutorials to get started. It's easy!
The Fantabulous Icon-O-Matic -- Create your own icons with the help of this super easy tool. A great service and it's free.
Connection Manager -- Have you ever started a long download and fallen asleep on the keyboard, losing precious time on your account? This program will terminate a connection after a specified lapse of time and/or after all selected windows are closed. It works great with Netscape or Internet Explorer (Or any other program that creates a new window during downloads) Note: This application only works with Windows Dial-up Networking.
DailyRotation -- We all have a zillion bookmarks; however, we only have a few web sites that we visit everyday. If you are tired of sorting through your bookmarks to find those sites, this program is for you. DailyRotation is a tray-based program that puts all your favorite sites just one click away.
Fav2HTML -- As it's name says, it converts your IE favorites into html pages. It lists the IE favorites in form of HTML pages that are easy to browse. Then you can upload them to any web-server and access your favorites anywhere. Or you can email your friends your favorites. There are other freeware applications on this site as well, and while updating this link I found a Perl Script on
this page that does the same job, and there are other scripts on the site as well.
Google asked me, while I was conducting the update search for Fav2HTML if I meant Faq2HTML and that aroused my curiosity so, once I'd updated the listing, I clicked on the Faq2HTML link to see what I could find. Here are the results of that diversion:

this page, from icdatamaster, there's a huge collection of freeware converter applications as well as a giant file extension library at the top of the page (scroll down for the converters).
Web2Text -- This is a HTML to ASCII Text Converter. Unlike most others, this one not only has an easy to use graphical interface but it actually produces a nicely laid out text version, and keeps URLs visible. A minimum of post-conversion editing required.
Tibo Software -- Commercial site, but with some freeware.
JigSawedMe -- Only one file here, but it's cool, and free!
KarenWare -- Awesome freeware. This is a good one!
FillOut Manager -- This great little program will save lots of time, and it's free! If you fill out a lot of forms this has a click and drag feature. You can keep it on desktop and just drag your information to any form you might be filling out. Great for entering classified ads, contests, sweepstakes, etc.(Note: this software has a minor problem with windows98 and ie5 but the fix is shown on the site)
Power Albums -- A free digital photo album manager. It allows you to easily create groups of albums, password protected albums, arrange and print multiple images on one page, copy images between albums, create contact sheets, run slide shows, fast and easy to use and much more.
spIE -- Web usage monitoring tool that can invisibly log all web sites visited by internet explorer. This can be useful for the monitoring of your children's web usage, or your employees web habits. Features: logs every web site visited by internet explorer; runs invisibly. No trace of it can easily be seen; optional message can be displayed, warning that user is being logged; very difficult to disable; logs are in simple text file format. Free for private use.
RamBooster -- Another site with only one freeware tool, but it's a keeper!
Sue Fisher Software -- The font thing. A very handy freeware tool for managing the fonts on your computer.
123 FreeSolitaire -- A very nice software download with ten different games of solitaire in it. Yep, it's got ads, wanting you to buy the much fancier version, but they aren't too obtrusive to tolerate. We like the solitaire game called "golf", but it's really tough to win!
AbiWord -- A free word processing program similar to Microsoft® Word. It is suitable for typing papers, letters, reports, memos, and so forth. AbiWord has been created by a worldwide group of volunteers and currently supports many languages and operating systems. AbiWord is open source software, which means it will always be absolutely free. You are actually encouraged to make copies of AbiWord for your family and friends. (Editor's note: Abiword is smaller and faster than "the big guys", and is upgraded frequently, becoming more powerful with each upgrade. I've used it for a couple of years now, and much prefer it to other word programs on my system. There's a terrific support group if you need help learning to use it, or have problems with it.)

Alice -- Free, easy, interactive 3D graphics for the WWW brought to you by Carnegie Mellon University originally developed at the University of Virginia.
Free Font Tool -- X-Fonter is a powerful but easy-to-use tool that lets you view all installed fonts and also preview uninstalled fonts. You can test any of those fonts in different color combinations, styles, all sizes and even a 3D view and a character map with all ASCII codes included. The program can also install fonts from any directory (and there's other freeware on this page too).
Puff and Blow -- Super Methane Brothers - Puff and Blow each have a Methane Gas Gun which fires a cloud of immobilizing gas. If this comes into contact with a bad guy he will be absorbed into the gas and then float around the screen for a limited time. Bad guys are harmless in this state. Puff and Blow must suck the floating gas clouds into their guns and blast them out against a vertical surface. Bad guys then turn into bonuses which can be collected. Requires DirectX (for sound).
Convert ZIP files to Executables -- SFX Maker is a free utility that allows you to convert ZIP files into executable files. It is compatible with a variety of ZIP archives including PkWare, WinZip, PowerArchiver, QuickZip, and ZipMagic. It features a drag-and-drop interface, support for encrypted archives, and the ability to remove files when setup is complete.
Create Your Own 'Start Page' -- ABC-EDUCA Startpage Creator - Creates a nice HTML-page from your IE bookmarks/
favorites. Put your bookmarks into maps and you'll have a startpage-look-a-like HTML-page.
You can modify: title, discription, keywords, language, advertisment-links.
TechFacts 98 -- Whether you're trying to troubleshoot a problem or just
curious about how efficiently your PC is running, TechFacts will likely give you the information you're looking for. You can monitor virtually everything that happens to your computer: registry, disk, CPU, memory, DLL recources, Internet connection - even your keyboard. The process viewer lets you monitor all active processes and kill any process listed. (the program also includes some handy links to many PC component manufacturers, which can be invaluable if you reformatted your hard drive and you're trying to locate drivers). This is Shareware, but Very Nice.
Check for Dead links -- All Link Checker tests your web page for "broken links". Due to multiple-process-architecture it is fast and because of its clear design it is easy to use. Just type in the URL of your website or the URL of a special page or subdirectory and All Link Checker will chcek all links in the given website, page or subdirectory. It will list all extracted links and mark the "bad" and "broken" links. Double-click on a listed link to get more Information about a "broken link". After checking all links, All Link Checker will summarize the results, showing each page, it found "broken links" in. Whoa!... Nice tool.
Convert Graphic Images to ASCII Art -- BG_ASCII - a free interactive ascii graphic tool. It can create pictures made of ascii characters and save it as black and white plain text files or color html pages. Go create!
Manage Your Email Addresses -- Dawn - converts address book programs in Netscape 3 and 4, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Windows Address Book, MS Outlook 98/2000, Juno, WordPerfect, Eudora, Pegasus 3, and a bunch of other programs from one format to another. It also sorts email addresses by
nickname or address and works on Win 95, 98, NT, and UNIX systems. Get it!
Do you write a lot of checks? -- Check Printer - This program prints: payee, amount, word amount, date, memo, signature and extra info (i.e. DL# or phone#) onto a preprinted wallet size check. Only the standard checkbook checks are supported (6 x 2.75). Built- in Layout Editor supports a wide range of printers and check layouts. A sample check layout included. *There is no spyware included with this program. Check Printer is free for all home users in US, Canada and UK.
Check Printing Software 2000 -- Check Printing Software 2000 prints MICR checks for USA and Canadian banks from blank check stock and can also create pre-printed bank checks for accounting applications including Quicken, QuickBooks or Microsoft Money.
Freeware from Camtech 2000 -- MouseCam (magnifying utiltiy), RefreshEm (icon refreshing utility), Get Paths (file utility), PW Cashe (password retrieval utility), Dependency (file dependency tracking utility), TwipIt (converts Twips to Pixels, Points, Characters, Inches, Millimeters and Centimeters), Chr$ (converts whatever you type into ASCII code), ScanZip (scans your zip files and lets you view the files inside). All of these utilities are freeware (and there are more on the site as well).
Click-N-Type virtual keyboard -- An on-screen virtual keyboard designed for anyone with a disability that prevents him or her from typing on a physical computer keyboard. As long as the person can control a mouse, trackball or other pointing device, he or she can send keystrokes to virtually any Windows application or DOS application that can run within a window. There are other virtual keyboards around but you'll find this one the easiest to use for getting text into those uncooperative places like browser URL "Address:" fields, Email "To:" addresses, Email "Subject:" fields, dialog boxes like "Open" and "Save As...", and many other problematic applications. It's Free too!
Point-N-Click virtual mouse -- The ideal companion to Click-N-Type for anyone with a disability that makes it difficult or impossible to click a physical computer mouse. As long as they can move a mouse, trackball or other pointing device, they can send mouse clicks to virtually any Windows application or DOS application that can run within a window and even many that are full screen.
Add a 'Copyright' to Your Images -- CopyRightLeft - Open up an image, click on the copyright button, then enter whatever ya want to put on the graphic, where you want it. The "copyrighted" image is then saved under a different name; the original version will remain untouched. Pretty neat!
Yahtzee -- AllFive 2000 has absorbing gameplay, full statistics and high quality graphics! It's now 100% Freeware!!
StripMail -- StripMail quickly removes the "greater than" characters (>>>) which are added to the beginning of each line in replied or forwarded e-mail messages. Simply, copy the text of your e-mail message to clipboard, run StripMail and click the "Do It All" button. Text is cleaned, paragraphed and copied back in the clipboard, ready to paste to anywhere.
Random E-Mail Signature Generator -- Siggy sits in your tray and adds a random signature to email using either HTML or ASCII format. It works with most email software including Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape. You can even customize the font, color and size of the HTML signature! Only 430kb.
Quotes -- a fun utility that lets you manage your email signature files, categorize and use quotations in your e-mail, and even display a changing quotation on your screen saver. Left-click the system tray icon and see a random quotation drawn from a (customizable) text file database. Right-click and copy the quotation or your signature block with a quotation to the clipboard or a document. You can also run the quotations with a choice of animations as a screen saver, or simply click the icon for an occasional grin. The program includes sample quotation files on bumper sticker slogans, technology, facts, definitions, wisdom, definitions, and business. You can supplement these with more categories or add/delete within the sample file. Quotes can be configured in English, Spanish, German, French, or Dutch.

The File Splitter -- A terrific little freeware tool, from Marc Bjorklund, that splits files into pieces so that you can move them between systems on floppy disks. This program creates a batch file that is easily reassembled on another PC. You do not need to have this utility installed on both machines to transfer files.
