American Federation of Teachers -- The AFT Represents One Million Teachers, School Support Staff, Higher Education Faculty and Staff, Health Care Professionals, and State and Municipal Employees.
Learner.org -- Annenberg/CPB, a partnership between The Annenberg Foundation and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), uses media and telecommunications to advance excellent teaching in American schools. This mandate is carried out chiefly by the funding and distribution of educational video programs with coordinated Web and print materials for the professional development of K-12 teachers. Annenberg/CPB videos help teachers increase their expertise in their fields and assist them in improving their teaching methods. The programs are also intended for viewers at home and students in the classroom. All Annenberg/CPB videos, however they are used, exemplify excellent teaching.
Busy Teachers -- This Site is designed to provide teachers with direct source materials, lesson plans / classroom activities with a minimum of site-to-site linking, and to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience for the teacher who is learning to use the Internet.
Cool Teaching -- Designed as a resource for teachers K-12 who wish to find quality ready-made units and lessons for all subjects, or who wish to develop their own units. This page emphasizes engaged learning models such as WebQuests, Research Modules and Problem-Based Learning, but links include other forms of lessons and tutorials. Included also are sites to help you build your own units as well as some examples of sources to help students do research. Some of these units depend on the ability of students to do interactive work with others using technology. However, even if you have one or no computer in your classroom, most of the units linked at this site can be of much help.
AIMS Education Foundation -- AIMS began in 1981 as a project funded by the National Science Foundation at Fresno Pacific College. Eighty classroom teachers and the faculty explored the effectiveness of integrating mathematics and science in grades 5-8. Even though long recommended by thoughtful educators, very few meaningfully integrated materials existed at the time. The initial AIMS materials produced such positive results that a major curriculum research and development effort was launched to fill this void. The early success of AIMS in grades 5-9 quickly caught the attention of K-4 teachers and created a widespread demand for similarly integrated materials for their use. In response, AIMS was established as a permanent program to develop integrated math/science materials for K-9.

Field Trips -- We have developed a site of virtual field trips on nature topics with the goal of making the best use of the web in the classroom. These annotated field trips take students to some of the best web sites on each trip subject. We have also listed additional teacher's resources for each of the trips. Our field trips format makes learning fun, and makes using the Internet in the classroom simple, efficient and focused.

National Agricultural Library -- Part of the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is one of four National Libraries in the United States. NAL is a major international source for agriculture and related information. This Web site provides access to NAL's many resources and a gateway to its associated institutions.
Co-nect -- offering professional development and resources delivered online and onsite by a nationwide staff of educators who work directly with faculty. Co-nect schools and districts learn to integrate technology into teaching and learning, enhance the quality of student work, and integrate real-world projects into a standards-based curriculum. The result: students who exceed academic standards and are ready for a lifetime of learning and accomplishment.
Internet Detective -- Developed to benefit the academic research community in the European Union. It may be freely used for non-commercial academic and research purposes. Since the launch in 1998 they've had lots of positive feedback from all kinds of people in all kinds of places who've used the tutorial to teach and train students! Internet Detective teaches generic Internet and information skills and so can be widely applicable.
MegaEd -- This site is a search engine for online teacher's resources. It may be time consuming to use, but, if you couldn't find anything useful at one of the other sites listed on this page (as unbelievable as that seems to me, the editor of this page) then here's a place you can go to find other places to look.
Modern Language Association -- Provides opportunities for its members to share their scholarly findings and teaching experiences with colleagues and to discuss trends in the academy. MLA members host an annual convention and other meetings, work with related organizations, and sustain one of the finest publishing programs in the humanities. For over a hundred years, members have worked to strengthen the study and teaching of language and literature. [Editor's note: Membership in this organization is not free, but it's fairly reasonable. Beneath~The~Branches -- This is a Global Classroom Project where individuals or groups of students prepare stories about 'significant' Australian events. These stories may be factual, fictional or a combination of both. Student work should focus on environmental issues and historical events. Once the stories have been completed, they will be exchanged between the participating schools. Stories should include some form of illustration and may be presented in a multimedia format.
Global Classroom -- Allows students and teachers the opportunity and power to: collect and analyse data, problem-solve, hypothesise, predict, investigate, communicate with other students, individuals and organisations anywhere in the world, exchange ideas, opinions and experiences, create original work, such as prose, poetry or artwork and publish work on the Internet. All of these may be developed individually by students and contributed to the project, or developed collaboratively with others, either face to face or through electronic communication. It is important to remember that the focus of these tasks is on the curriculum - the technologies are only the tools that facilitate online learning!
Learn NC -- Learn North Carolina is a program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Education, and is a statewide network of educators using the power of the Internet to improve K-12 education in North Carolina. Our Web site provides a collection of resources designed by experienced North Carolina educators for classroom teaching and learning and for professional development.
