HP Web PrintSmart -- Allows you to collect the web pages you are interested in into a single document. Search web sites for specific info and collect web pages. Once you have the info you're looking for, you can: organize it, format it, share it, print it; all the web pages print as a single document.

Picture Slide Show -- Have you ever wanted to see all the pictures in a folder without opening each up individually? It displays graphic files in a folder continuously without you doing anything. You just point it to a folder, indicate how long to display each picture and then sit back and watch. If a picture is too large for your screen, it is resized to fit.

Backflip -- Instantly saves any web page you want into yahoo-style folders. It does the work of organizing for you. There's no limit to how many pages or how often. It is the easiest way to get back to all those interesting things you see on the web. You can use if from any computer. And it's totally free.

Fastscanner v1.2 -- Turn your scanner into a copier. Free software allows for scanning to printer, scan preview, scan to file and to clipboard. Say goodbye to expensive photocopying. [editor's note: dirk's english isn't very good, and there were a couple of pop-up ads on the site, but he has a lot of freeware on his site. Fastscanner is near the bottom of the list.]

Copying Machine -- This great program is for people who have a twain-scanner and a printer attached to their pc. The idea is very simple, making a copy of a real document by scanning it in with the scanner and print it with the printer. It works just like any real copying machine, but has some additional capabilities. For example you can save the images to disc so you can make copies of them in the future without having to scan them again. You can also make a selection on a page in order to zoom in on a particular part. Another feature is that you can align an image on a page, so the copy is always perfectly centered on the printed page. Click on windows in the menu bar at top of page.

CD Speed -- A CD-ROM benchmark which can test the most important features of a CD-ROM drive. Tests include: transfer rate, seek times, cpu usage, burst rate, dae quality, transfer rate and spinup & spindown time.

Anti-lost CD Ejector Lite -- This cool program lets you open and close your CD drive tray and more. It does the logging of CD friendly names, serial numbers, and volume names, now you'll know what CD's have been in your PC. Click the icon on your system tray to start the action.

Forum One -- The web's search engine/guide to online forums. The site catalogues over 310,000 separate web forum topics ('threads') in every imaginable topic. The forum finder search engine locates forums across the web based on keywords.

Super Win-EBook 98 -- Now if you want to read e-books, try this. Provides an appealing format for reading books in Windows. It uses varied fonts, sizes, and colors of text, pictures, sounds, music, hyperlinks to email, the web, and other pages and much more. Download a free viewer then choose some of their totally free win-ebooks to read.

2bpop -- With this simple and incredibly small software you can browse web sites, email people on those web sites and save a wealth of info on the site to your database with a click. Free and no ads!

CacheMan -- Maximize your disk space. A free utility that tweaks the disk cache settings and prevents frequent swapping of the data to disk resulting in an improved performance. You just need to run it and select your optimization method and reboot your system after saving the changes. The lastest version takes out the guesswork. You can tweak the disk cache, name cache, and file cache settings; essentially making your system behave the way you want it to.

Cookie Muncher -- Cookies can be helpful or intrusive according to the web site and it's use of them. It eats a cookie as soon as it arrives. New version, now works with ie and netscape. (Other freeware on this site as well.)

Naviscope -- Acts as a web accelerator by prefetching, dns resolution caching, aggresive connections, MTU/RWIN optimizations and ad blocking. It can also block items other than ads such as cookies, popup windows, backgrounds, blinking text, javascript and sounds. It will even keep the time on your pc's clock adjusted. Many other features and all can be individually configured either globally or on a site-by-site basis. This is a great tool!

GlyphThis 2.0 -- A replacement for windows' character map, intended to make working with clipart fonts such as wingdings easier by having all the characters big enough to see. Now updated with resizable window support...Resize the window and it all changes shape to fit.

Cool Ruler -- Need to measure items on your desktop? This freebie assumes the form of a vertical or horizontal measuring stick that stays on top of other windows. Measurements may be set for inches, pixels, centimeters, or to your specifications. Set marks on the ruler by moving your mouse cursor to the desired position on the ruler scale and left-click. You can launch as many on-screen rulers as you want. There's even a built-in calculator.

TopDesk -- Energize your desktop! This small utility adds an icon to the system area of the task bar that gives you complete access to everything on the desktop...System objects and files, including the display properties dialog.

Revelation -- Did you forget to write down all your passwords? And now you're scratching your head trying to remember one? Use this utility to see what's hiding behind the row of asterisks(****).

Johannes Wallroth -- Mr Wallroth is a a gifted programmer and you'll find many wonderful freeware programs on his site, but that's not all! He has some excellent tutorials and resources for anyone who want's to learn programming in C++ or Java, and the "artwork" section of his site contains high quality digital art and photographs. A great place to visit, and don't be surprized if you feel compelled to stay a while and explore. If, like me, you feel inspired to leave a thank you note in his guestbook, be sure and tell him where you found his site.

X-Setup Windows Hacker Tool -- From simple boot options up to server settings, x-setup allows you to change more than 300 hidden functions with some simple button clicks. Some topics it covers: windows, internet explorer, office, explorer options, server options, network settings and security. It is the most complete hacker ever available for Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0. and it is everywhere you need it: either in start-programs or as a symbol in settings-control panel. It's extremely easy to use. It offers wizards that allow you to change your system in a step-by-step process. With this feature, configuring your system is as easy as a-b-c. It has an explorer-like layout and the famous back and next buttons you already know from your internet browser so navigation can't be easier.

SynchronX -- Have you ever tried to use the windows briefcase? Did you manage to understand all its features, options and possibilities? It is confusing. Try this very small and free utility that allows you to make two directories identical by copying any modified files from one directory to another. This is all it does, but it does it efficiently and fast. (Click on "download")

TweakAll -- A free utility,from codeforge, that enables you to change various hidden settings in windows 95/98. loads of features and super easy. Click on "Software" and select "TweakAll" to see details. The download link is at top center of the Tweakall Page.

Karen's Power Tools! -- A plethora of excellent, and free, software. There's bound to be something for everyone here.

Eraser 3.6 -- Free tool allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns.

Nice Notes -- A small application that can handle notes (pieces of text). All notes can have an alarm attached and includes calendar, print and export facilities.

ZoomOpen -- System utility which shows a zoom effect when Windows are opened (or closed) on the desktop. Several custom options include zoom type, zoom speed and installation into the system tray.

Start Menu Cleaner -- A freeware utility which cleans the start menu by removing unneeded shortcuts and folders. Most applications adds folders and shortcuts to the start menu. The problem is, when you remove the program, its folders and shortcuts sometimes remain in the start menu. This program scans all shortcuts in your start menu and removes empty folders and shortcuts which points to files that no longer exist. The result is a smaller, cleaner, more efficient start menu.

CleanTemp -- This cool tool looks after your temp folder - that's the folder windows and other programs use to store temporary files. Unfortunately, these temporary files are not always deleted. They can build up and consume your disk space. It can automatically remove these files for you. It only runs when windows starts, so it does not use up any of your memory or processing power. ReadPlease 2000 -- This is an exciting new text-to-speech application utilizing the best technologies in the world today. Best of all - it's free! It shatters the myth that computers must sound robotic and monotonous. Configurable with choice of "human" voices.

Wake Up News -- A utility that automatically loads the newspapers of your choice every morning and wakes you up when it's ready. You can use it at home or at your workplace(without the alarm) so your news are ready when you walk-in. It has been designed to be the equivalent of a virtural paperboy and its advantage over similar personalized news services is you can use any newspaper you wish, from the new york times to your local daily newspsper.

SuperFassst -- Acceleration Software has created a program that'll maximize your hard drive's speed. (It was definately visible on mine!).The program is free! Settings are accessible from your system tray.

Download Accelerator -- Hate waiting to download large files? This is a free utility that opens several connections to the same download at once, shaving minutes off of the normal time. It also keeps track of the files, so if you lose the connection, the download can be resumed at a later date.

Netzip Download Demon -- It gives you pause, resume, and reconnect for your downloads. If you download from the Web, this essential tool will make your life easier. Use it for all your mp3, zip file, software and other downloads.

Net Vampire -- Free file downloader and manager! Powerful but easy tool. You can drag and drop or alt-click links in the browser to schedule them for immediate or deferred download. It will restart broken connections automatically and continue where it left off until it receives the whole file. It provides flexible job scheduling, dialup control and support for many proxy types including socks. It has a built-in search engine and can find files on both ftp and http servers. On completion of download it can run a virus checker, open received file, disconnect the modem or shut down your computer. We love it!

Grafula -- This is an add on tool for net vampire to grab images.

Aaron's WebVacuum -- A great tool for plucking pictures and pages from the internet so they are available on your desktop. It can be used to download any file by specifying its extension in the file filter. You have the option to burrow down up to 9 pages deep on a site, or just collect 'everything'. I has a great range of options so you can control the files you download in many ways -- even skip individual files if you like. The interface is great, with a "Beginner" and an "Expert" mode.

IrfanView32 -- A fast and powerful image viewer and multimedia player. Very handy...Too many features to list here.

ActivIcons -- A convenient way to change the standard windows desktop icons and cursors, without having to manually locate and change various windows registry settings. Best of all, it's free.

Clipboard Pile -- This great clipboard manager stores the contents of the windows' clipboard so it can be retrieved. But, unlike other managers, this one includes graphics too! In addition to that, it displays both text and graphics in its dual pane screen. Create a series of messages and quickly paste them into your letters or documents. There's even a "glue and paste" and "search" tool. The interface is easy to use.

CopyURL -- A little shell extension for Windows 95/98/NT4 that allows you to copy different info from your Favorites links to the Clipboard, Then you can simply paste it from the Clipboard to your emails, HTML editor or other documents. This utility adds commands: Copy URL, Copy Link and Copy Name to the context-menu of Favorites links. This has become a "must have" utility on any computer I use. (There's some other freeware here too)

Welcome To The Research Library! -- Pick a subject, use the drop down list to locate a subject's number, and then select that book's number from the shelves on the left. Very cool folks!

Cool Desktop -- This tool does one thing and one thing only: it lets you hide and unhide your desktop icons so you can feast your eyes on your desktop wallpaper. Just click the eyeballs in your system tray to toggle your icons on and off.

AnyBrowser.Com -- This site is the place to go to find out how to make your website viewable, useable and informative for the majority of your visitors. Use the "siteviewer" to see your page as others do! "Very nice service."

BCWipe -- Delete files permanently from your hard drive.

Webopedia Personal Search Tool -- This search utility sits in your personal bookmark toolbar ready to be used when you need the definition of a technical term.

Alexa -- Free web navigation toolbar. Navigate the web smarter, faster, easier.

DLL Files -- Ever had a .dll file go missing or get trashed with no idea how to fix it? This happens with regularity under windows. You can look up your missing dll alphabetically then download it on the spot. If you can't find one you need, just leave a request on their message board.

DLL Archives -- Everyone has uninstalled programs at one point or another, just to be presented with that wonderful dialog asking whether or not we want to delete some 'shared' Windows resource... Do we? Does something else use that DLL file it's asking about? Help!!! That's where AnalogX DLL Archive comes in - it searches through all the files on your system and lets you know if any of them contain references to the DLL's in question! AnalogX DLL Archive is super-simple to use, just click search and let it do it's thing - once done, you'll be presented with a list of all the DLL's that don't have references in the system! Then just select which ones you think aren't necessary anymore and archive them; it's that simple! Make a mistake? No problem, restoring DLL's from the archive is just as simple - nothing is deleted until YOU delete it.

Ken's Freeware -- Remote Mail32 is a POP3 Remote Mail Client that allows you to rid your mailbox on your ISP's server of large attachments, without having to download all of the mail. WCL_FTP is a basic Windows Command Line FTP program. Notepad FTP is designed for the person who has experience with FTP clients and shell accounts, but does a lot of file editing by hand.

Browser Tune --Fred Langa's awesome site will give you a free browser tuneup!

POW! -- A simple utility, just run it while browsing on the Net, and when one of those nasty popups appears, it will automatically close it for you...It's that easy.
